My Story
I'm Andrew. Brisbane-based, husband, dad, and ultra runner.
For 15 years I've worked in B2B sales — building products, distribution, leadership roles. Running came to me later than for some, but it took hold properly when I committed to my first ultra. Since then I've completed:
- Australian Triple Crown of 200-Milers (2023): Delirious West, Irrational South, and Unreasonable East
- 100-Mile finishes: Brisbane Trail Ultra and Glasshouse
- 100k finishes: Ultra Trail Australia, Canyons Endurance Run by UTMB (California, 2026), Scenic Rim Ultra, Blackall 100K (x2), and Guzzler 100K
- 50K finishes - Blackall Ultra, Kunanyi Mountain Run (46K), Yandina Five-O x 2
I'm currently training for Highlands Ultra Trail by UTMB in Vietnam in January 2027.
I started Clift Endurance Coaching because the conventional ultra training model didn't fit me — and watching other working adults try to make it work, it was clear it didn't fit them either. Long hours. Junk miles. "Embrace the suck" culture. None of it accounted for the fact that most of us are running with full lives attached — jobs, kids, sleep that isn't always reliable. The training has to work with that reality, not pretend it doesn't exist.
I coach because I want to help other people get to the start line — and the finish line — without losing themselves on the way there.
Coaching Track Record
Five years coaching. Around 30 athletes worked with. First ultra finishes I've coached athletes through include:
Arches Ultra 50k (Moab, Utah) — first 50k
Tarawera Ultra Trail 100k by UTMB (New Zealand) — first 100k
Irrational South 100 Miler (Flinders Ranges, South Australia) — first 100-miler
Brisbane Trail Ultra 100 Miler (Brisbane) — first 100-miler
These aren't easy races. They're real ultras at real distances — and the athletes I've worked with prepared properly, executed their plans, and finished what they came to do.

What Working With Me Looks Like
Week one
We start with a real conversation. 60 minutes on a video call where I learn who you are, what you're training for, what your life looks like, what's worked and what hasn't, and what you're hoping to get out of coaching. No template, no pre-written intake script — just a proper conversation. Then I build the first two weeks of training based on what you've actually told me.
Every week
Your training plan lives in TrainingPeaks. I write each week tailored to where you are, what you've responded to, and what's coming up. You message me anytime during the week if something's off — too tired, life's thrown a curveball, the session didn't feel right, anything. I respond within 24 hours on weekdays.
Every month
We get on a video call together. Review how the training's tracking, what's working, what needs to change, where your head's at. This is where the real coaching happens — the part algorithms and templates can't do.
Race week
We map out your pacing, nutrition, gear, and mental approach in detail before you start. No surprises on race day. If you're racing in Brisbane and want in-person support at the start, aid stations, or finish, I'll be there.
Beyond the running
Coaching with me isn't just about the training plan. We work on strength and mobility, recovery and sleep, nutrition and hydration, pacing strategy, hiking and power-walking technique, race-day mindset, dealing with low points, and gear choices. Not as add-ons — as part of the whole approach.
